This Is A Strange Time To Be Alive In India
I haven’t seen two of my colleagues for weeks.
Nah! Not even on Zoom calls.
Fortunately, their condition is stable. But there are a lot of people who might not be able to see their colleagues again.
I overheard my sister talking to her friend, a healthcare worker, about the dire situations of hospitals in a city like Bhopal, which is 30% lower cases than Bangalore and Delhi. The conditions are unimaginable in big cities.
When you look at numbers about 1,97,894 losing their lives, you might not be able to feel anything. Because these are only numbers from afar, but ask their families how much one number was their everything.
You don’t get to understand how bad the situation gets until someone from your circle leaves the world waiting to get treated. With a population of 1.36 billion, India is fighting the virus and an inner battle that everyone is fighting silently.
The lucky ones who get to sleep in the comfort of their beds cannot find peace because their loved ones, their neighbors, or their parents are stuck in the hospitals.
One of my mother’s friends couldn’t meet her husband for the last time. They’d been texting for a few days while he was on a ventilator. Yesterday, he lost the battle against the virus; and…
